VOLUNTEER TRAINING APRIL 12, 2008

Bird Center of Washtenaw County looking for volunteers for spring's baby bird season

Spring is here and with it the onslaught of orphaned baby cardinals, robins and mourning doves, as well as many injured adult birds. The Bird Center of Washtenaw County needs volunteers to help in caring for these birds until they can be released into the wild. If you would like to learn about being a Bird Center volunteer, you are welcome to attend a training workshop on Saturday, April 12th from 9:30 am to noon. The workshop will be held at Washtenaw Community College in Room 320 of the Gunder Myran Building from 9:30 am to noon.

Pre-registration is required. Call Carol Akerlof at (734) 223-0636. The cost is $5 for the training and coffee/tea and muffins or rolls. Volunteers must be 18 years old.

The workshop is an introduction to volunteer activities at the Bird Center which is located in Ann Arbor.

People not interested in hands-on bird care, but who would like to volunteer in other capacities are encouraged to attend.

The Bird Center of Washtenaw County works to provide care for injured and orphaned birds and to educate the public about the importance of protecting birds and our environment.
