2012 SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

The Bird Center of Washtenaw County is now seeking student interns for the summer of 2012!

Interns are an integral part of our wildlife rehabilitation team, with duties ranging from examining new patients and dispensing medications, to providing proper housing for our approximately 65 different species we see each year and answering phone calls from the general public about animals in trouble. Most training is on the job.

We provide 36.25 hour per week paid internships as well as 20 hour per week unpaid internships with a term running from early May to late August. We have worked with schools in the past to provide college credit. Students majoring in biology, pre-medicine, zoology or related fields are encouraged to apply. All applicants will be considered. Interviews will be completed by April 1, 2012 and hiring decisions will be made before April 14, 2012.

If you are looking for a position that will provide animal experience in a diverse and exciting work environment, please e-mail birdcenter@comcast.net for an application and a flyer with more detailed information. Previous animal experience not required. Students who will be taking classes full-time this summer may not be considered for full-time internships due to the demanding nature of the positions.
