The Bird Center of Washtenaw County is a new non-profit organization and we depend on public support. It costs a lot to rehabilitate an injured bird or raise a baby bird to adulthood, not including the time volunteered by our experienced staff. During the height of the summer season, we spend $200 on mealworms, $25 on paper towels, and $185 on veterinary bills each week. Many birds require fresh fruit or ground chicken baby food diets which are expensive. If you are asking the Center to help a bird you have found, please consider making a donation to defray the costs of its rehabilitation.
The Bird Center of Washtenaw County is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are fully tax deductible. If you would like to make a donation, call Carol Akerlof, at (734) 761-9640, contact us by mail at 2229 Needham Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48104, or drop by the center at 926 Mary Street in Ann Arbor.
